Burkina Faso prison guards protest for better condition

Burkina Faso’s security staff in detention centre started Thursday nationwide unlimited strike to demand better working and living conditions, Xinhua reporter witnessed on the spot.

“The work stoppage is purposed to demand that the Government to effectively implement decrees on pay grid and allowances.” prison guards’ national union (SYNA-GSP) said.

Prison safety officers argued that the strike is subsequent to a meeting with Justice Minister Rene Bagoro who “committed himself, without success, to submit the issue to the government”.
