A person incarcerated at Aiud Prison spoke out against the violence, sexual assault and rape endured in other facilities. He requested a conditional release on these grounds and for health reasons. The court refused his request due to disciplinary offences committed at Aiud.

Aiud Prison has begun modernising four of its districts. The work is estimated at a cost of 140,000 lei (30,000 euros) excluding VAT. The work will include improvements to 134 two-person cells and 46 individual cells as well as electrical, thermal and sanitary renovations. The goal is to adapt the installations to current standards to guarantee that incarcerated people’s rights are respected.

The prison chaplains of Transylvania gathered at Aiud Prison. They prayed for incarcerated people and the employees of the prison service. Religious leaders and social workers presented the “TABOR” programme, which aims to provide moral support for incarcerated persons nearing release and help them with social reintegration.

Companies hiring prisoners are exempt from making social contributions for these contracts.

The Aiud correctional facility has established reintegration programmes focused on developing professional skills. Incarcerated individuals actively request to participate, and the facility sets up service contracts with companies ready to employ them. Participating companies benefit from economic advantages such as exemption from paying social contributions and the absence of costs associated with vacation leave.
