A year ago, we indicated a desire to dedicate 2018 to structuring and strengthening our association. That is exactly what we did. We are now fully ready to head into 2019.
We reinforced the association’s executive staff, appointing a new president as well as directors with proven expertise in the field of prisons. We would like to thank Alexandre Delavay for his unwavering support in the association’s early days. He is still a member of our Board.
We have the necessary tools to achieve our goals: a revamped and enriched set of questions suitable for securing clear and detailed information on the application of prison policies for each country, and the platform’s unique ability to compare countries.
We have a road map and a strategic development plan. The numbers of our small permanent team grew by one in July, with the addition of an employee responsible for seeking funding.
So it’s true that we might not carry much weight. And we are still experiencing growing pains. But we have tremendously good luck – we believe in ourselves. This belief is derived from our network of supporters: from their donations, their advice, their involvement as volunteers, their work, and their meaningful financial contributions.
